Hey! Welcome back to my blog.
Todays session was a little unusual, and it was devided in three sections.
First, we did a small excercise of Sight Translation in order to help some students in an investigation that they are doing for their thesis. It was pretty cool because it had been a long time since I had practiced this type of interpretation.
Then we moved to a speech/presentation lead by Regina and it was about one hour long. I was very excited to hear all the information and advice she would give us in that presentation, so I took a lot of notes. That presentation was just what I needed and has been a great help to me for a project that I am creating.
After that, we moved to our session with teacher Orlando and we started talking about Flexibility in Lesson Planning, Magic Moments in The Classroom, Sensible Diversions, and Unforeseen Problems in Lesson Planning.
Here you have a video of teacher Orlando sharing his knowledge with us:
When we talk about flexibility, it means being ready to change your plans based on what your students need. It's not about making things up as you go along but being smart and adjusting to what your students require. Every group of students is different, and what works great with one group might not work with another. Good teachers can change their plans to suit the situation.
Other point that our teacher mentioned was importance of having clear goals for our sessions, since the these goals show you and your students what you want to achieve.
Then we talked about Warm Up Activities and how to implement them in our sessions. Our teacher was explaining to us that these activities must long around 5-7 minutes and that they can be used for:
1) Reviewing something (activate prior knowledge).
2) Introdue a new topic (led-in).
3) Just for fun.
And that's it for this week's entry.
Stay tunned so you do not miss my next entry.
