Welcome back!

This week there was a celebration of the 42o anniversary of the university and that was the reason why I only went one day to the university and the on-site classes were suspended. We got a worksheet with different activities to do during the time of our session (or during the week in my case) ;)

The topic of this week was “Lesson Planning” and I am going to provide you some important points and information about it in the following lines.

Lesson planning is crucial for teachers to give clear and effective lessons to students. Planning lessons well leads to a successful class. But if we don't plan, we might face issues like students not paying attention, unclear goals, behavior problems, and feeling frustrated.

In lesson planning, we also talked about CCQs and ICQs.

CCQs are Concept Checking Questions.

Teachers use them to make sure students understand concepts or specific words.

ICQs are Instruction Checking Questions.

We ask these to check if students understand the instructions we gave.¡

For example, we can ask:

- What is the main idea of the concept?

- How can you explain the meaning of the new word?

One of the activities was listening to a video about Lesson Planning and recording important points. We can ask ourselves some questions to help plan, like:

- How can we make the lesson more interactive and engaging for students?

- What real-life examples can we use to explain the concepts better?

And that was basically our week in a nutshell.

- . - . - . - . - . - . -

But I have something more! (Not related to the English Didactics but about our dear Teacher Orlando).

The events described below took place on July 19.

Apparently (because I did not feel nothing), there was an earthquake when we were in the middle of our French Class, so we had to leave the classroom, and just as in our last semester, there was our savior Teacher Orlando, giving instructions with his megaphone. I took a picture of him (and this time I asked him for permission), here you have it:

He was there making sure that everybody was okay and organizing us, then when the “earthquake” was over, he commanded us to return to our classrooms.

Not only a teacher but also a hero.

That was my entry of this week, I hope that you had enjoyed it and thank you for reading this far.

Stay tuned so you do not miss my next entry.
