Hey! It’s so good to see you here, reading my last entry of this blog.

As you already know, we have been discussing the four macro skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) in our previous sessions. This time, we had to make groups and present different activities related to these macro skills to our classmates. Without further delay, I present to you an overview of the different presentations that we had.

First Session.

There was a group that did a presentation about Listening and another one about Speaking but when I got to the classroom (late) they already had performed their activities so I would not share with you anything about those groups, however, you can read about them in the blogs of my other classmates. In only have this video from one group in which they were making a story:

Reading – Christian’s Group.

This group prepared and activity in which we had to read a document about Cyber Security, which I found pretty interesting, and then we had to answer some true/false questions and find words in an alphabet soup.

Writing – My group.

We prepared two activities, one in which our classmates had to form different sentences, and the other one was about them writing a letter; we provided them different connectors and also showed them one example of a letter.

Second Session.

Listening – Nathaly’s Group.

This group performed an activity in which we had to listen to a verse of song that I like, which is called Dark Horse, and then they handed us a page in which we had to mark the different words that we listened in the verse of the song. The second activity was a game called The Telephone and it was really fun, they made groups in lines and each line had to whisper a phrase or sentence to the person next to them and the last person in line had to say the sentence or phrase out loud.

Speaking – Maru’s Group.

Maru’s group performed an activity in which they wanted us to answer to questions related to topics that they considered controversial, and I say “they considered” controversial because I do not, for me controversial topics are kind of deeper. In the case of my group our question was about when do we considered a person too old or too young for posting a selfie online.

Reading – Nidia’s Group.

This group performed two activities, one in which we had to read a document and then answer some questions playing the hot potato game; the other activity was about reading another document but they gave us the questions and we had to answer (verbally due to technical problems) choosing different options that Ely provided us.

Writing – Eunice’s Group.

This group performed an activity in which we had to form different sentences using the letters of our name, just like it was some kind of acronym. This was mi result:

They also performed another activity in which they provided us a list of different “commands” and we had to write down words/names/quantities according to our preferences and then using them to create a story.

And that was the end of the presentations about the Macro Skills.

English didactics I has been an incredible course, it changed the mindset that I had about never being able to be a teacher because now I think that it would be pretty cool. I have a lot of knowledge that would really helpful when trying to teach, and I already applied some of the things that I learned when doing my social service and the students loved it, I feel like they were more engaged to the class. I truly admire the dedication that teacher Orlando has, he was always speaking clearly, explaining every topic with a lot of details, making every session interactive, and always with his “chill attitude” as I like to call it.

“Every ending holds the promise of a fresh chapter waiting to be written”.

See you soon!
